[28MAR2012] Lent 2012: Day 36—Reflection and Meditation
Lord we are being instructed by the Lenten observance and nourished with your Word. Grant that we may be entirely dedicated to you in holy self- restraint and ever united with others in prayer to you. This we ask of You.
“And yet my people did not hear my voice, and Israel would not obey me.” Psalm 84:11
34 Jesus replied, ”Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word.
These are troubling words. As I look around me and consider the very small amount of margin that we have in the course of our daily lives, I wonder how much “room we have for God’s word.” We seem to barely have room or time for anything… much less the space needed to allow God to truly speak to us about the deep mysteries of His kingdom and way of living. This is troubling. Disturbing. Convicting.
O today that you would hear the LORD’s voice: Harden not your hearts…

Those who seek YAHWEH understand everything… Proverbs 28:5
We beseech you, Lord Jesus, that to whom you do vouchsafe sweet draught of the words of your knowledge, you will also, o your goodness, grant that we may in due time come to you, the fountain of all wisdom, and ever stand before your face; for your sake. -Bede
