Vacation – Day 2

Day 2:

elevationHad a good night’s rest last night and woke up early while the rest of the family slept in. I headed down to the breakfast area for the “free breakfast bar” and enjoyed a fresh hot waffle, fruit, and coffee. We headed out for worship services at the Elevation Church here in Charlotte. The are a mobile church with three campuses; we visited the Providence campus which is held in a high school auditorium. The guest experience was awesome. People greeted and cared for us with joy. The service was great and Pastor Steven brought a great message on the command of generosity (1 Timothy 6:17-19). The whole family enjoyed our morning with Elevation. Following the service I had the chance to talk about ministry vision with the connections pastor Larry Brey; great guy. I really listened and will continue to consider his words to me…

Leaving Elevation we thought to head right on in to downtown Charlotte where we planned to visit the Discovery Center (a science center). It was cool, but the allure was not the same for us as when the boys were about six years younger than what they are now. Don’t get me wrong, it was cool and all…but it got pretty tame after a short while. The IMAX experience later in the afternoon was much cooler; of course, it helped that we were watching Transformers 2 on the big screen. When the movie ended we headed out for supper and landed at Bojangles (a fried chicken joint)…still ain’t no Popeyes, but it’ll tie us over until we hit Louisiana.

Speaking of which, we do the final leg tomorrow. We’ll head out and try to make Jackson, Mississippi by 20:00 hours to pick up our favorite West Point cadet, Stefan. He’s flying in to meet us there and we’ll do the last 100 or so miles all of us together.

I didn’t get too many pictures for the slideshow today, but I will try to take more tomorrow. That’s it for tonight; keep us in prayers as we hit the road tomorrow. Grace, Peace, and Jesus!

Sounds like a “Borden-kinda-day” heading out to a new experience at a church campus setting at Elevations. From Laurie’s input last night about the service I am intrigued to Google Elevations and find out more for myself. No surprises here to find that the Borden’s rounded out their day with a science and discovery center and a trip to an IMAX to see Transformers! OK Laurie & Josh we could have used you this past week in our VBS! Holdin’ out on your secret life of swashbuckling adventures are you??? Fun pictures though Transformers would have been out of my league, no surprise there either!

Dean and I are praying for you each leg of the journey. Today Jeffrey you will have “all your chicks under your wing” and we know how that pushes the dad buttons for the patriarch of the family!

Give Stefan a hug from us today and “Happy Trails” to you Trailblazing travelers and “long live the GPS!” Go Jeffrey embracing your freedom to navigate less the stress! Oh sooooo much closer you move to your final destination….Sweet Home Louisiana, Lord there all comin’ home to you where skies are so blue….. love ya!
