Vacation – Day 1

The day started early…real early; 3:30am early. A stiff cup of coffee and a rub of the eyes and we were off on the first leg of the journey to Louisiana. Seven hours later we stopped off at a roadside lookout in West Virginia for a picnic lunch. The weather was great for the drive and the traffic was very bearable. We ended up arriving in Charlotte, North Carolina around 5:00pm. I let the boys decide on where to eat supper and they chose Sonic (bleh). Oh well, I get to choose when we hit Monroe. I’ve included a little slideshow of pictures I took at random times during the day. We intend on attending worship services at the Elevation Church tomorrow and then maybe some family activities later in the afternoon. I’ll update you on our adventures at the end of the day tomorrow. Peace!

One Response to “Vacation – Day 1”

  • Bethly:

Hello Jeffrey, Laurie, Stefan, Garrett and Josh!

We are traveling vicariously right alongside all of you! Couple of comments…..So sorry Jeffrey that you were overruled in the choice of restaurants but I have never been inside a SONIC before and now I can at least say I’ve seen one! The boys look quite content with their choice!

Whoa…..That pic of Laurie, Garrett and Josh waving in front of the Trailblazer just about pushes me over the edge! Aren’t those expressions a bit demonstrative, dramatic, a little over the top and animated for the Bordens!!!!????

Laurie the Slaybridge Suites motel looks very nice from what the pic shows….good job “Mrs. Frugality”….. a woman who is “prized far above rubies and gold” by her family with her wise and discerning $$$.$$ saving choices! Atta girl packing your own food for a picnic lunch by the roadside lookout!

Joshua what’s up with “that face” in the car??? Are we to assume that there was some sibling annoyance going on in the “Borden mobile” or dad just catching a photo op unawares! Josh we are praying for clear breathing and no wheezing/coughing ect.

Good to know that the Charlotte Observer is printing some upbeat news in a down sliding economy! But maybe you were pointing to the Walter Cronkite story??? Not having TV are we missing something???

Glad you had clear sailin’ weather for driving and the traffic has been “bearable!” Can’t wait to hear about your observations of the Elevation church! Catch up with you later tonight Laurie…. Thanks Jeffrey for the photo journal. Some time for a couple of days of R&R at the motel and then you’ll be pushin’ off to “Sweet Home Louisiana!” Lord there comin’ home to you!
